Marilynn Sultana, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Dr. Marilynn Sultana is a native of Detroit and graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Wayne State University. She earned her M.D. degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine. After serving her internship year at St. John Hospital in Detroit, she completed her ophthalmology residency at Kresge Eye Institute where she was appointed Chief Resident. Dr. Sultana is a member of the medical staff at St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital, Straith Hospital for Special Surgery and the Eye Surgery Center of Michigan.
Dr. Sultana is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and was one of the first women certified by the American Board of Eye Surgeons in the sub-specialty of cataract/lens implant. Dr.Sultana is a Fellow of both the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American College of Surgeons. She is a member of the Michigan State Medical Society, Macomb County Medical Society, Michigan Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons and Anthony Wayne Society, which promotes education and research at the WSU School of Medicine.
During her career, Dr. Sultana has performed several thousand cataract and implant operations. She joined Cataract and Eye Consultants in 1996 and has a special interest in small incision, laser-assisted surgery with multifocal and toric lens implants.
In 2014 Dr. Sultana was part of KenyaRelief.org, a medical mission team treating eye diseases and performing cataract surgery in the remote village of Migorl, Kenya. Dr. Sultana is married with three children. She has completed several marathons, climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro and enjoys running and cycling.
